Meet the Pastors
Rev. Charlotte Nabors, Interim Minister
Dr. Charlotte Nabors, an ordained Disciples of Christ minister, comes to us with over forty years of pastoral, educational and missionary experience. For almost ten years, she, along with her husband Oran, (also an ordained Disciples pastor) served First Christian Church, Denton as co-pastor. Prior to that she was Associate Minister at Central Christian Church in Dallas for nine years and, along with her husband, Oran served four years as a missionary in Thailand. Upon returning to the U.S., Rev. Nabors became the founding pastor of the Lao Community of Christian Faith in Houston, a ministry with Laotian refugees.
Early in her career, she served on the Christian Education staff at Northway Christian Church in Dallas for ten years. She has also served as Interim Minister for three churches in the North Texas and Oklahoma. She has been an adjunct professor at Brite Divinity School teaching in the field of Christian Education and has served on numerous boards with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and joint committees with the UCC.
Dr. Nabors completed her undergraduate degree at Furman University in Greenville, SC, and her Master’s degree from University of St. Thomas in Houston. Her Doctor of Ministry degree is from Brite Divinity School in Ft. Worth. The Nabors have three grown children, Stacey, Christopher and Charles, all of whom live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, as well as seven terrific grandchildren.
Rev. Katelin D. Warren, Minister for Youth and Young Adults
After receiving her BA in Religion and Philosophy in 2003 from Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina, Katelin moved to Fort Worth to attend seminary. Shortly after which, Central asked Rev. Warren to join us as our Minister for Youth and Young Adults. In December 2006 she graduated from Brite Divinity School with a Masters of Divinity. She was ordained in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at First Christian Church, Wilmington, North Carolina at the end of February.
In her time at Central, Katelin has introduced several new elements of Christian service to our congregation. Our first mission trip, during the summer of 2005, was to the Heifer Ranch in Arkansas. From that moment on, Central knew that we were hooked. Katelin has continued to plan mission trips for us each summer following. Last summer (2006), 17 of us went to Magoffin County, Kentucky to work with a group called Appalachia Service Project. It was a life changing event for much of the group. We returned to Central with an even stronger sense of dedication to our Mission work. This summer, we will be spending the first week of July in Gulfport, Mississippi, with God’s Katrina Kitchen, serving meals and helping to repairs the homes in a community that has been ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Katelin continues to dedicate her time to the youth and young adults of our church. She also shares some of the Pastoral Care responsibilities with Dr. Nabors and continues to work with our new Membership Development Committee. Katelin lives in Fort Worth with her wonderful husband, Andy, and their four mischievous cats- Allie, Shadow, Ewok, and Brutus.
