Youth Ministry
Youth Ministry has always been an important part of Central’s life. Our youth group, called Pilgrim Fellowship or PF, plays an active role in the everyday life of the church and is a valued ministry. Our Minister for Youth and Young Adults, Rev. Katelin Warren, is responsible for all of their programming.
Bible Study
The youth participate in a Bible Study every Sunday at 10:00 AM, with separate classes for Junior and Senior High. After our Fall Kick Off on September 7th, the Junior High and Senior High Sunday school groups will begin their fall programming. Junior High will be focusing on an introduction to the Bible. While Senior High will be participating in a study of The Last Week by Marcus Borg, led by the Theological Reading Group.
Fellowship
First Sunday is an opportunity for socializing and fellowship with the youth group from Midway Hills Christian Church. On the first Sunday of every month, our two groups will gather for events like bowling, pool parties, mini golf, and baseball games. This is a great chance to get to know other area youth.
Mission Trips and Fundraising
Mission Trips have played an important role in the life of Pilgrim Fellowship. Beginning with our first trip in 2005, the youth (with the help of their parents and other trip participants) have been entirely responsible for organizing and fundraising for these events. These summer trips have helped us to build a stronger youth group and are a highly valued part of our youth ministry. Adults have joined us on these trips and have been greatly benefited.
In the past, we have traveled to Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Louisiana, through various organizations to serve where we are needed. Next summer, 2009, we will be taking part in two different trips. The Junior High will be traveling to the Heifer Ranch in Perryville, AR while the Senior High will be looking into working with Re-member, a Native American ministry. If you are interested in learning more about our trips, we would love to hear from you by email or by phone.
Joyful Noise and Worship
Youth and older children also participate in a handbell group every Sunday morning at 9:00 AM., September through May. This group, Joyful Noise, shares its music in worship services. Several of the youth also participate in worship with their musical talent, or by reading scripture or acting as liturgist.
